How to read a research paper
Begin with the question, then follow the evidence.

A paper is not best read as a list of conclusions. Start with the question the authors set out to answer and the reason the question matters.
Next, look at the methods and figures. What was measured? What comparisons were made? Do the figures support the claims in the discussion?
Finally, notice what the authors identify as limitations. A careful reader leaves with both an insight and a sharper question for the next paper.
